What Is It?

The LS64 is an enhanced hand-held thermal imager. It features an extremely large Tau core inside. With a detection resolution of 640x512 this unit has a 4x digital magnification with a 30° lens. That means its a small package with substantial range. Add in the 30hz refresh rate for a live updating view, and a built in laser marking system, and you have one of the most robust and flexible thermal units currently available on the market.

Who Uses It?

Marketed to Law Enforcement, the LS64 has seen deployment in police departments across North America. It has also proven popular with search and rescue responders, security professionals, and tactical teams. Because it is available to civilians, this unit has also found a home with hunters who demand the very best equipment for varminting, tracking, and other outdoor tasks.

What Is It Designed For?

This unit is made to be carried in a police cruiser. Using a USB charger it is small enough to be available in the front seat and spend a shift going in and out of the car with the officer. Sometimes you may have multiple officers responding to an incident, not all of whom are equipped with a FLIR unit. The laser on the LS64 is primarily designed as a marking laser to highlight suspects or items of interest for anyone not using thermal.

What Is It Capable Of?

The 30hz, wide angle, and substantial zoom makes the LS64 a strong addition to any night vision system you might build. With the proper adapters, this unit can be helmet mounted for detection while moving or rifle mounted when taking the shot. The laser can be used to signal team members with I2 night vision or no night optics at all, and the 4x zoom gives it further range abilities than similarly sized scouts.
